Recently, the Mosier Fire District went through a routine evaluation form the Insurance Service Office (ISO) that concluded at the end of January. These types of reviews occur every 5-10 years. I am PROUD to announce that Mosier Fire District has moved UP in their ISO rating. The Fire District has gone from a 5/5Y to a 4/4Y.
What is ISO? ISO is a national organization that rates fire departments and communities on their fire protection. ISO ratings are used by insurance companies to determine insurance rates.
How do they rate? Each fire department, district, agency, gets rated a numerical rating between 1-10. The lower the number, the better. In areas that serve rural areas, like us, there is another number and letter assigned. Again, the lower the number, the better.
In order to get an ISO rating, the agency gets looked at using the following areas:
Fire department equipment
Emergency services call processing
Staffing
Training
Geographic distribution of resources
Water supply systems
Communications systems
Attached is the letter that anyone can download and send to their insurance companies to see if there is a reduction in their insurance costs.
