The following information is provided in order to obtain a Burn Permit in the Mosier Fire District:
- The person conducting the burn must be a resident of the district, or the land owner is aware of the upcoming burn (as they are responsible for anything that may occur on their property).
- The Permit is good starting January 1 of that year and is valid until December 31 of that same year.
- The permit is valid during OPEN burning season. The Permit becomes INVALID and SUSPENDED during times of Regulated Closures by either the Mosier Fire District or the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) until such time as the closure is lifted.
- If you experience an emergency while conducting a burn, CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.
- The permit is issued under the hand of the Fire Chief in accordance of ORS 478.960 (this statute can be found on the back of the burn permit) and may be revoked at any time.
- The Fire District/ODF has the right and authorization to suppress and and all illegal burning at any time.
Steps to obtain a burn permit:
- Contact the Fire Chief at (541) 478-3333 or email at chief@mosierfire.com and set up a date and time for him to come out and ensure the burn area is in compliance.
- Maintain the white copy of the burn permit on the Property and readily available in the event the fire department has to respond out to the property.
- Do not burn during high wind days.
- All burns must be extinguished at dusk. Suggestion is to burn early in the morning to allow ample time to complete the burn.
- Residents are responsible for any fire that is started on their property and it leaves that property and damaged another persons property or possessions.
