Today Mosier Fire released a public RFP for the supply of full structural turnouts and SCBA equipment. Potential suppliers have until the 28th of this month to respond.
The turnouts committee (and anyone else that is interested) will then review all the proposals and ask the front runners to chat about their proposal and demo the equipment. Then we’ll test all the equipment using the criteria in the RFP and make our recommendations to the board using the evaluation as described in the RFP.
These are exciting times for Mosier Fire as we start to procure the equipment that will allow us to perform more effectively and more safely.

As of March 18, 2011 we received official notification granting our request to FEMA for funds for brand new protective clothing and breathing apparatus. The $80K award is for twelve sets of each, complete with coats, pants, helmets, gloves, suspenders, and air packs with one spare bottle for each pack. Mosier will match five percent of the total cost.
We have roughly a year to complete the acquisition.
This equipment is sorely needed and will go a long way toward helping your fire department volunteers to reach our training goals.
Official final results:
Measure 33-67 (Dissolution of existing Mosier Rural Fire Protection District): 152 YES, 91 NO
Measure 33-68 (Formation of Mosier Fire District): 209 YES, 142 NO
Board of Directors:
Ken Hudson, Darin Molesworth, Lee Roy Herman, James Matthisen, Glenn Bartholomew
