The Wasco County Board of County Commissioners today appointed Joanne Rubin to the Mosier Fire District Board of Directors, filling the position vacated last fall by Vic Hamilton’s resignation.
Joanne’s appointment runs through June 30, 2015.
This position, and three others, will be up for election on the May 2015 ballot.
The County Commissioners faced a choice between Joanne and Phil Evans, both of whom received favorable comments from the Commissioners and from Glenn Bartholomew, representing the Fire District Board. Phil was encouraged to consider nomination in the next round of appointments, to fill the two vacancies created by the recall election.
Joanne’s appointment restores quorum to the Fire District Board.
She will be sworn in at the next regular meeting of the Board, on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at 7PM in the Fire District office, 208 Washington Street.
One of the first items of business after the oath will be a discussion of the process to appoint two more interim Board members. That process will be a Board decision. The expectation is that there will be time for public input and comment.
